Filing premises liability lawsuits against big box stores

On Behalf of | Apr 13, 2017 | Premises Liability

When Georgia shoppers are injured at a big box store, they may not be sure what they need to do in order to seek compensation for their medical bills and other damages. While they may be able to work with a claims representative to recover damages if they suffer an injury that was caused by another customer, a personal injury attorney may need to assist with filing a lawsuit if the person is suing the store.

Following an injury, the big box store may have internal procedures for documenting the injury. This documentation process may include gathering information that details how the injury occurred. A person who suffers a severe injury that requires immediate medical attention should go to the hospital for care prior to dealing with the company.

Slip and fall injuries are not uncommon. However, these can be complex. People could also file a lawsuit if they are injured in a car accident that was caused by a driver employed by the company or if the company sold a dangerous product.

A person who is injured in a big box store after slipping and falling could file a lawsuit against the company especially if the business failed to properly identify the hazard. A premises liability attorney may assist with filing the lawsuit and negotiating with the company in an effort to reach a settlement without going to court. If the company does not settle, however, the attorney may assist with taking the case to court in order to seek compensation for the damages the injured person sustained.
