When people are hurt by restaurant or bar patrons

On Behalf of | Jun 11, 2016 | Premises Liability

It is unfortunate that some people are injured by drunk drivers leaving bars and restaurants in Georgia, and others are injured when they are assaulted by other patrons or workers while they are visiting the establishments. Under the law, the owners of restaurants and bars owe a duty to people to keep their businesses reasonably safe. If you have been injured after a patron was served too much alcohol at a restaurant or bar, you may be able to file a lawsuit in order to recover monetary damages to compensate you for your losses.

Restaurant workers have a responsibility to stop serving alcohol to a person who is intoxicated. When they continue to serve the person anyway, the worker and his or her employer may be held to be liable under the state’s dram shop laws if the drunk person then injures someone else. If you have been injured in a drunk driving accident caused by a driver who was overserved alcohol, you may recover damages to pay for your medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering and other losses you suffered.

People who are injured when they are assaulted may file civil lawsuits against the restaurant or bar where the attack on them happened. These lawsuits may be filed while criminal charges are also pending against the people who committed the violent act.

We understand how to collect the evidence we need in order to hold both the perpetrator and the restaurant or bar owner responsible.
