Isenberg & Hewitt’s Melvin L. Hewitt, Jr. has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Victim Assistance, Inc. Atlanta Victim Assistance, Inc., organized in 2002, has advocated for the rights of victims and witnesses of crime and those impacted by crime.
On June 23rd, Atlanta Victim Assistance is hosting the Barney L. Simms Violence Is Preventable (VIP) Awards to celebrate recent accomplishments in the field of violence prevention and to raise funds to support the continuation of AVA’s services for the families of victims of homicide.
It will be a grand evening honoring the memory of Mr. Simms, celebrating the achievements of Honorary Co-Chairs, Congressman John Lewis and Fulton County Commissioner Joan Garner, as well as recognizing the efforts of several persons committed to violence prevention and victims’ rights. There will be food, entertainment, and an auction of a special item from Mr. Simms’ personal art collection. Individual tickets for this event are $100 and sponsorships are $1,000.
