CVAC President, Melvin L. Hewitt, Jr. announced that Jessalyn Dorsey, recently appointed CVAC’s Executive Director, won the Eva Murillo Unsung Hero Award, a national award which will be presented to Ms. Dorsey on April 10, 2014 in Washington, D.C.  Ms. Dorsey will receive a plaque in her honor from Congressman John Lewis at the Capital.  Since 2006, the Congressional Victims’ Rights Caucus has honored outstanding individuals, agencies and collaborative initiatives whose efforts directly benefit victims and survivors of crime, and promote individual and public safety.  The Caucus hosts an Awards Ceremony on Capitol Hill during the week prior to the annual commemoration of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, which is scheduled for the week of April 6 to 12.
