Harriet Isenberg again argued to the Georgia House of Representatives Judiciary Committee this morning on behalf of Creditors of the State of Georgia and other states that have loaned money or extended credit to debtors. The proposed legislation to allow debtors to make “charitable contributions” rather than pay their debts without consequence to either the donor or charity would only encourage fraudulent transfers to charities and side deals benefiting the debtor in some way and leaving the Creditors without remedy to undo the transfer as the current law allows.
