Potentially negligent security leads to local death

A man may have died as a result of a reckless or negligent security guard in Cobb County, Georgia. The security guard allegedly shot one man and injured another during a recent shooting.

The shooting occurred in Austell, Georgia. Witnesses told responding police officers that the shooter was a security guard. They stated that the security guard shot one man after the two of them got into a fight. The other victim was injured by a stray bullet. The police found the victims in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Although both victims were taken to a local hospital, only one survived. The man who was injured by a stray bullet survived and was later released by the hospital. The security guard was not immediately charged for his role in the shooting.

In this case, a negligent security guard may have directly caused injuries to individuals. The victims or their families could allege a premises liability case on the basis that the apartment building was an unsafe premises. Many premises liability cases are based on the notion that inadequate security led to a victim sustaining a personal injury.

When a person is injured at a business center, apartment building, shopping center or gas station because a security firm did not prevent him from being attacked by third parties or being the victim of an assault, the victim may bring forth a premises liability claim on the basis of inadequate security. Negligence is another popular theory for the reason why a property owner demonstrated an unreasonable risk of harm.
