Accidents and crimes in poorly lit areas

On Behalf of | Jan 19, 2017 | Premises Liability

Some Georgia stores and apartment complexes do not have adequate lighting, which leads to people being injured or assaulted while they are on the premises. If you have been seriously injured in an accident or an assault on a property that was caused by poor lighting, you may have legally ground claims that you may file against the owner or operator.

People who have been injured in accidents or crimes committed on properties with poor lighting might be able to recover damages for the losses that they have suffered. The damages that may be available include medical expenses, pain and suffering and lost wages, among others. If your loved one was killed in such an incident, you might be able to recover compensation through a wrongful death lawsuit.

If you have been injured in an assault, rape, robbery or mugging in a poorly lit area, you might be able to file a lawsuit. If you suffered an injury in a slip-and-fall accident because of poor visibility either inside or outside, you may also be able to recover damages. You will need to understand the duties that are owed by property owners to people who are legally present on their premises as well as how to prove your case.

At Isenberg & Hewitt PC, our attorneys understand the duties that property owners owe and the liability that they have when people are injured on their premises. We work closely with each client to fully investigate the claim so that we can build a strong case. We understand how devastating an accident or crime can be for victims, and we believe that our clients deserve to be compensated for their losses. If you or your loved one has been seriously injured on the property of another person or business because of poor lighting, you might want to read our Atlanta poor lighting page.
