Ikea settles lawsuit over tipping dressers

Georgia shoppers who have purchased furniture from Ikea may be interested to learn that the company agreed to pay $50 million to several families on Dec. 21. According to the report, the company was sued after three children were killed when Ikea dressers crushed them after tipping over.

Injured inspector awarded $2M after falling off ladder

Georgia employees may be interested to learn that a worker who was injured while on a client's property was awarded $2 million after he fell off a ladder that was provided by the client. The worker, who filed the case in San Luis Obispo County in California, had attempted to settle before going to trial.

Wrongful death case still pending in 2015 Georgia fire

In Georgia, news sources report that one civil court case is now closed following the Marshall Square retirement community fire of 2015 but that 14 additional lawsuits remain pending. The parties involved in the property damage lawsuit, which is one of 15 lawsuits that have been filed in connection with the deadly incident, reached a last-minute settlement on Dec. 1. Although few additional details have been released, the settlement was reportedly a "big win" for the plaintiff in this particular case.
