Negligent maintenance claim lodged against NFL stadium operator

A former Houston Texans punter is suing the agency that is responsible for operating Reliant Stadium for failing to maintain the premises. The claim alleges that the agency allowed unsafe turf to be used, resulting in a potential career-ending injury for the punter. The former punter played in the first 12 games last season before incurring an injury that resulted in the tear of his left anterior cruciate ligament and a bone fracture. The accident occurred when the player caught his left foot in a seam that was between 8-by-8-foot palettes of real grass. The player's claim says that the injury is career-threatening. He was released from the Texans in August.

Atlanta student robbed at gunpoint on campus

A female student was robbed at gunpoint on the campus of Clark Atlanta University, raising questions as to whether inadequate security on campus contributed to the event. Campus police called the Atlanta Police Department after hearing about the incident. The young victim said that four young men approached her and one of the men held a gun to her head. He threatened to shoot her if she did not comply with their demand, which was for her to hand over all her belongings. Although robberies at Clark Atlanta University are not common, nearby Georgia Tech and Georgia State University have increased police presence on campus to decrease the number of robberies.

Inadequate security to blame for mass Georgia shooting?

After seven people were injured when a gunman opened fire at a crowded fair, some may wonder if inadequate security played a role in the injuries. The attack took place in a suburban area of Savannah, Georgia, at the Coastal Empire Fair. The shooting began at approximately at 10:40 p.m., nearly an hour before the fair was scheduled to close for the evening. All of the victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment and one victim underwent surgery. The injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

Inadequate security potential factor in parking lot game injury

A man who was recently hospitalized for injuries that he sustained during a brawl during the recent Florida-Georgia football game may have a case against the stadium for premises liability, based on inadequate security.
