Georgia Is a Hands-Free State

The Hands-Free Georgia Act went into effect in 2018. It is illegal in Georgia to drive with a phone in your hand and calls must be made using speakerphone, earpiece, or vehicle connection. Drivers are not permitted to write, send or view text messages or online content like videos or social media. Since drivers are prohibited from recording or broadcasting video, using a cell phone for video calls like Zoom, Skype or Microsoft Teams meetings is also prohibited.
